U.S. Army Pvt. Travis King is expected to plead guilty to several charges at a court-martial, according to his lawyer.
King, who made headlines for crossing into North Korea in July 2023 while deployed in South Korea, faces 14 charges but will plead guilty to five, including desertion, on September 20 before a military judge at Fort Bliss, Texas.
In exchange, the Army will drop the remaining charges, The Hill has reported.
King, who was charged in October 2023 with offenses including child pornography possession and assaulting officers, is grateful for the support of his friends and family, according to his attorney.
