The opening day of Burning Man 2024 was marked by tragedy as a female participant, 39-year-old Kendra Frazer, was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel.
The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office is investigating her death, with an autopsy pending to determine the cause.
Burning Man officials expressed condolences to Frazer’s family and friends, and support services have been made available for attendees, the San Francisco Gate has reported.
The event, held annually in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, has faced similar incidents in the past, including a fatality last year.
