Tire failure suspected in Mississippi bus crash that killed 7 and injured 37

A bus crash near Vicksburg, Mississippi, killed seven people, including a 16-year-old girl and her 6-year-old brother, after a tire failure caused the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn.

The crash occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 20, leaving 37 others injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) are investigating the incident, with initial findings suggesting the crash was caused by a tire failure that led the 2018 Volvo commercial passenger bus to lose control and roll over.

Six victims died at the scene, while a seventh died at Merit Health Hospital in Vicksburg.

The deceased, all from Mexico, included the two siblings, three men, and two women, ABC News has reported.

The MHP and the Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division are collaborating on the investigation.
