American killed in West Bank, State Department says

An American citizen, Aysrnur Egzi Eygi, died during a protest in Beita, West Bank, reportedly after being shot in the head by Israeli troops, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

The State Department confirmed her death but did not provide details. Eygi was protesting against settlement expansion when she was critically injured and later died at a hospital in Nablus.

The Israeli military stated that its forces fired at a protester who posed a threat but are investigating reports of a foreign national’s death, Fox News has reported.

The incident comes amid rising violence in the West Bank, drawing concern from Western allies, including the U.S.
