Putin says he backs Harris over Trump, adds he’s ready for talks with Ukraine

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential race during the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia.

Putin indicated support for Harris, suggesting that the Russian stance aligns with President Biden’s support for her. He also remarked on Harris’s positive demeanor.

Despite this, U.S. intelligence assessments suggest Putin may prefer a second term for former President Trump, based on past Russian interference efforts.

Putin’s recent comments are seen as part of a strategy to influence U.S. politics, possibly by presenting a facade of support to unsettle Harris’s campaign.

Putin also expressed openness to peace talks with Ukraine and suggested countries like Brazil, India, or China as potential mediators, Fox News has reported.

This stance marks a shift from his previous rejection of negotiations.
