A Russian attack on a Red Cross vehicle in eastern Ukraine killed three aid workers and wounded two others, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The incident occurred during preparations for an aid distribution in the Donetsk region. ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric condemned the attack, calling it “unconscionable.”
All victims were Ukrainian citizens. The UN reported that 50 aid workers were killed or injured in Ukraine in 2023, Al-Jazeera has reported.
Russia, which often claims to target only military sites, has not commented on the incident.
