Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party suffered a significant defeat in a Montreal by-election, losing a seat it had held for decades to the Bloc Québécois.

This is the second major election loss for the Liberals in three months and may intensify calls for Trudeau’s resignation.

The result highlights declining Liberal support, even in strongholds, and comes ahead of the next general election expected in 2025, DNYUZ has reported.

Trudeau, whose approval ratings have plummeted, has vowed to lead his party through the election despite mounting pressure and criticism.
