The U.N. General Assembly is set to vote on a Palestinian resolution demanding that Israel end its “unlawful presence” in Gaza and the West Bank within a year.
The resolution also calls for sanctions, an arms embargo, and reparations to Palestinians.
Israel’s U.N. ambassador, Danny Danon, strongly criticized the measure, accusing it of distorting facts.
U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield expressed concerns, stating it complicates peace efforts and fails to address Hamas’ role in Gaza, the Associated Press has reported.
The resolution follows a non-binding ruling by the International Court of Justice declaring Israel’s occupation unlawful.
