Vladislav Bakalchuk, estranged husband of Russia’s wealthiest woman, was arrested and charged with murder following a deadly shootout at the Moscow office of Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer.
The incident, which left two people dead and seven injured, stemmed from a dispute over the company’s future amid a contentious divorce from his wife, Tatyana Bakalchuk, founder of Wildberries.
Vladislav claims he was attacked during a scheduled meeting, while Tatyana accuses him of attempting to seize the office.
Their public feud escalated after Wildberries announced a merger that diminished Tatyana’s stake in the company.
Tatyana condemned Vladislav’s actions in a heartfelt video, highlighting the absurdity of the situation, CNN has reported.
The case echoes past corporate conflicts in Russia following the Soviet Union’s collapse.
