Active duty troops deploy to NC mountain

Up to 1,000 active-duty soldiers have been deployed to assist with Hurricane Helene relief efforts in western North Carolina, where many communities remain cut off due to catastrophic flooding.

These troops, from the XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Liberty, will join the North Carolina National Guard to deliver essential supplies and clear debris.

President Biden expressed his support, emphasizing the urgency of the mission, Spectrum News has reported.

Many residents are still without power or water, and major roads remain blocked. Biden is also traveling to North Carolina and South Carolina to assess the storm damage.
