Amazon tests adding robot warehouses to Whole Foods

Amazon is testing mini warehouses at Whole Foods stores, starting with a location in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, as part of an effort to attract more shoppers and compete with other grocery chains.

The micro fulfillment centers will allow customers to order items from Amazon’s website or Amazon Fresh while shopping at Whole Foods, offering a wider range of products not available in-store, like Pepsi or Kellogg’s.

This move aims to reduce shoppers’ need to visit multiple grocery stores, addressing a common consumer habit of shopping at two different stores each week, CNBC has reported.
