FBI thwarts Election Day terror attack plot in name of ISIS

U.S. officials foiled a plot to carry out a terror attack on Election Day by Afghan citizen Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, who was arrested in Oklahoma City.

Tawhedi, linked to ISIS, allegedly purchased weapons and planned to target large gatherings with his juvenile brother-in-law.

Court filings reveal Tawhedi communicated with an ISIS recruiter and intended to die as a martyr. He was charged with providing material support to ISIS and terrorism-related firearm offenses, The Hill has reported.

Tawhedi had also planned to send his family back to Afghanistan before the attack. Authorities credit the FBI with preventing the attack.
