Israeli airstrikes on central Beirut killed 22 people and injured 117, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
The strikes targeted residential areas in Bachoura, with unconfirmed reports suggesting Wafiq Safa, a Hezbollah security official, may have been the target.
Rescuers worked through the rubble, and many injured were taken to the hospital.
The attacks follow weeks of escalating violence between Israel and Hezbollah, with no comment from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the BBC has reported.
The UN condemned Israeli strikes that injured peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, calling them a violation of international law.
