Rescue teams in Florida worked to save residents after Hurricane Milton struck, causing widespread destruction, killing at least eight people, and leaving 3 million without power.
The storm brought deadly tornadoes, severe flooding, and heavy damage to communities, including Hillsborough County, where a boy was rescued from debris, and a man survived overnight in the Gulf of Mexico.
Milton made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane near Siesta Key, sparing Tampa from a direct hit, the Associated Press has reported.
While damage was extensive, many expressed relief it wasn’t worse. Recovery efforts continue as floodwaters may still rise.
