Body parts in freezer left at Colorado home spark homicide investigation

Authorities have identified body parts found in a freezer at a Colorado home as belonging to Amanda Leariel Overstreet, a 16-year-old girl who went missing in 2005.

The investigation into her death is being treated as a homicide.

The remains were discovered in January when the new owner of the home, near Grand Junction, gave away a freezer left by the previous occupant.

Inside, they found a human head and forearms. Overstreet, who had not been reported missing, lived in the Grand Junction and Harris County, Texas areas, The Guardian has reported.

The cause of death has yet to be determined, and no arrests have been made. The previous owner of the house was confirmed to be Leanne Overstreet, Amanda’s biological mother.
