Canada expels top India diplomats, links them to murder of Sikh leader

Canada expelled six Indian diplomats, including the high commissioner, accusing them of involvement in the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar and targeting Indian dissidents in Canada.

In retaliation, India expelled six Canadian diplomats and withdrew its envoy from Canada, denying the allegations.

The diplomatic clash marks a significant deterioration in relations between the two countries, NBC News has reported.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau cited “clear evidence” of Indian agents’ involvement in criminal activities, which India dismissed as politically motivated.

Both nations continue to exchange accusations amid strained ties.
