Democratic vice presidential nominee Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz announced plans on Tuesday aimed at improving the lives of rural voters as Vice President Kamala Harris seeks to challenge former President Donald Trump’s support in this demographic.
The Harris-Walz plan focuses on enhancing rural health care by recruiting 10,000 new health care professionals through scholarships and loan forgiveness, as well as addressing economic and agricultural policies.
Walz unveiled the plan in rural Pennsylvania, emphasizing his small-town roots in a new radio ad targeting Trump and Ohio Sen. JD Vance, the Associated Press has reported.
The plan also includes extending telemedicine coverage under Medicare, supporting volunteer EMS programs, and restoring the Affordable Connectivity Program to assist with internet access for rural residents.
