Delphi murders trial begins in Indiana with opening statements, 7 years after girls killed

The trial of Richard Allen, charged with the 2017 murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German in Delphi, Indiana, began with opening statements.

Allen, 52, faces two counts of murder and kidnapping for the killings of the teenage girls.

Prosecutors described the gruesome crime scene and presented video evidence found on one victim’s phone, seeking to prove Allen committed the murders and remained undetected for five years, CBS News has reported.

Allen’s defense argues the investigation was flawed and insists he wasn’t on the trail that day. The trial is expected to last a month, with both sides calling numerous witnesses.
