Multiple Deaths After Helicopter Crashes Into Houston Radio Tower

A helicopter crash in Houston’s Second Ward resulted in multiple fatalities, including a child, when the aircraft struck a communications tower, causing a fiery explosion.

The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. near Engelke and North Ennis Streets, with the blast audible from a nearby fire station.

Four people were aboard the privately-owned Robinson R44 helicopter, which reportedly took off from Ellington Airport.

Witnesses described seeing the tower collapse and fire crews managing the scene, where nearby homes experienced power outages, CNN has reported.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash, and officials advised residents to avoid any helicopter parts found in the area.
