Two individuals in Evansville, Melvin Guerra and Luis Cordon, were charged with “Cemetery Mischief” after allegedly digging at a gravesite in an attempt to break a “voodoo death curse.”
Police reported that Guerra, who worked for Cordon, claimed they were looking for items buried in Oak Hill Cemetery to remove the curse on Cordon.
The digging, which occurred on October 8, was stopped by an arborist who reported the incident, WEVV 44 has reported.
Police believe Cordon may have been the victim of a financial scam related to the supposed curse.
