Woman found guilty of second-degree murder after leaving boyfriend to die in zipped suitcase

An Orange County jury found Sarah Boone guilty of second-degree murder for the 2020 death of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr., who suffocated after being trapped in a suitcase for 11 hours.

Boone claimed Torres willingly entered the suitcase, and her defense argued she acted out of fear due to “battered spouse syndrome.”

However, videos showed Boone mocking Torres as he pleaded for help. Despite delays, the trial proceeded, with Boone expressing shock at the verdict, WESH TV 2 has reported.

The Torres family found some closure, and Boone’s sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 2.
