Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has called for protests against the recent parliamentary election results, which she claims were rigged with Russian assistance.
The ruling party, Georgian Dream, won approximately 54% of the vote, a result seen as a setback for Georgia’s aspirations to join the European Union and a victory for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed concerns over election irregularities and the lack of fairness, urging a full investigation, Fox News has reported.
Protests have already begun in response to the results, reflecting widespread public discontent with the election outcome and aspirations for EU membership.
