Canada has accused India’s Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah of involvement in a plot targeting Sikh separatists in Canada, a claim first reported by The Washington Post.
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister David Morrison confirmed Shah’s name to the newspaper, though details of the intelligence remain undisclosed.
Canada’s national security adviser, Nathalie Drouin, stated that Indian authorities in Canada gathered intelligence on Canadian citizens, allegedly sharing it with New Delhi, which reportedly collaborates with networks linked to imprisoned criminal Lawrence Bishnoi, the DW has reported.
Indian officials have not commented on the allegations.
