A 70-year-old man, Jay Steven Berger, was arrested after he opened fire from a high-rise balcony at Atlanta’s Four Seasons hotel during a mental health crisis.
The incident began when hotel staff responded to a call about Berger’s erratic behavior, which included throwing furniture off his balcony.
Witnesses captured footage of him firing a gun while wearing a Halloween mask, leading to a massive police response and an hours-long standoff.
During the confrontation, Berger fired through walls and off the balcony, injuring one officer. He was eventually taken into custody and hospitalized with injuries, the Daily Mail has reported.
Authorities found three firearms in his apartment, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
