One dead and others trapped beneath rubble of collapsed hotel in Argentina

A man has died, and up to nine others are missing after the 10-story Dubrovnik hotel in Villa Gessell, Argentina, collapsed early Tuesday morning.

The victim, believed to be an 80-year-old man from a neighboring building, was confirmed by local authorities, who noted his partner was rescued.

Rescue efforts are ongoing to locate individuals trapped in the debris, which includes construction workers reportedly involved in unauthorized work at the hotel.

Significant damage occurred to nearby buildings, with fallen debris causing extensive destruction.

The hotel, opened in 1986, was undergoing renovations that had previously been halted due to lack of proper permits, CNN has reported.

Argentina’s Security Minister announced the mobilization of specialist teams, including structural engineers and rescue specialists, to aid in recovery efforts.
