Russia drill simulates “massive nuclear strike” in response to enemy attack, Moscow says

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched extensive nuclear force exercises simulating a retaliatory strike, testing ballistic and cruise missiles to showcase Russia’s nuclear capabilities amid escalating tensions with the West over Ukraine.

Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said the drills focus on a “massive nuclear strike in response to an enemy’s attack.”

Putin emphasized nuclear forces as a key security guarantee, pledging continued modernization.

Test launches included a Yars ICBM and submarine-based missiles, all reaching their targets, CBS News has reported.

Putin has warned NATO against escalating support for Ukraine, suggesting such actions could provoke direct conflict.
