Alabama man sentenced to more than 1 year for threats over Trump mug shot

Arthur Ray Hanson II, a 59-year-old man from Huntsville, Alabama, was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison for threatening Georgia officials over the mug shot of former President Donald Trump.

After Trump’s booking on state charges in August 2023, Hanson left voicemails for Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat and District Attorney Fani Willis, warning them of violent repercussions.

He specifically threatened Labat by saying bad things would happen after taking Trump’s mug shot and warned Willis to be cautious if Trump was indicted, NBC News has reported.

The threats were made before Trump’s indictment, prompting federal authorities to respond, emphasizing that such threats against public servants undermine democracy.
