Soldier charged with murder after Fort Leonard Wood sergeant found dead in dumpster

A 21-year-old soldier, Spc. Wooster Rancy, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, faces murder and obstruction charges in the death of Sgt. Sarah Roque, whose body was discovered in a dumpster on base on October 21.

Roque, 23, went missing from her morning formation, leading to a search by her unit.

Rancy, now in pretrial confinement, awaits a preliminary hearing.

Roque, a Texas native and K9 Detachment handler, enlisted in 2020 and was highly regarded by her unit.

Her funeral is set for November 2 in Indiana, CNN has reported.
