An internal email obtained by the Associated Press reveals a dispute within the White House over President Biden’s recent remarks calling someone “garbage.”
During a livestreamed video call, Biden appeared to criticize Trump supporters, but the official transcript was altered to suggest he was only referring to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who made offensive comments about Puerto Rico.
The White House stenographers’ office, responsible for accurate transcripts, objected to the changes, calling them a breach of protocol, Al-Jazeera has reported.
Biden later clarified on social media, stating his criticism targeted “hateful rhetoric” and not all Trump supporters.
