UK still suffering from trauma of Liz Truss, says Treasury chief

UK Treasury Chief Secretary Darren Jones stated the country is still feeling the effects of former PM Liz Truss’s economic missteps, as market concerns arise following the recent budget.

Jones contrasted the current fiscal situation with the turmoil after Truss’s unfunded £45bn tax cuts, noting that today’s approach includes verified fiscal plans by the Office for Budget Responsibility.

He defended the £950 daily rate for David Goldstone, new head of the Office for Value for Money, citing the expected long-term benefits from improved spending oversight, The Guardian has reported.

Goldstone has held roles in government finance and infrastructure, including overseeing the 2012 Olympics investment.
