Washington governor activates National Guard against election-related violence

Washington Governor Jay Inslee activated the National Guard to be on standby from November 4 to 7 to assist law enforcement if needed during election week, following nationwide warnings from the Department of Homeland Security.

This precaution responds to recent incidents, including ballot box fires in Oregon and Washington.

Experts note that large-scale election violence like the January 6 Capitol riot is unlikely, though smaller disturbances remain a concern, The Hill has reported.
