Police in Michigan say 4 killed, 17 injured after semitruck crashes into vehicles stuck in traffic

A section of Interstate 96 in southeast Michigan remained closed Sunday after a semitruck collided with over a dozen stalled vehicles near Webberville, killing four people and injuring 17.

The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. Saturday, when the semitruck driver reportedly failed to notice traffic halted for utility work.

The collision caused fires involving multiple vehicles.

The deceased include a 29-year-old man from Carson City and three relatives from Lansing, the Associated Press has reported.

Cleanup efforts continue, with the highway expected to stay closed for an indefinite period.
