Megan Valentine, 44, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for allegedly fatally shooting her husband, Illinois Judge Michael J. Valentine.

Police found his body outside a home in Albion on Tuesday.

Megan faces additional charges of aggravated firearm discharge and domestic battery.

Illinois State Police led the investigation, which led to her being held in White County Jail, NBC News has reported.

Michael Valentine, a respected judge serving in the Illinois Second Judicial Circuit since 2022, was remembered by colleagues as a compassionate and committed jurist who will be deeply missed.
