One person is dead and 16 are injured after a shooting at Tuskegee University

A shooting at Tuskegee University early Sunday left one person dead and 16 others injured, including several students.

The 18-year-old victim was not a student, but some of the injured were.

The shooting occurred at the West Commons on-campus apartments as the university’s 100th Homecoming Week was concluding.

Twelve people were injured by gunfire, and four others sustained non-gunshot injuries.

Authorities, including the FBI, are investigating, and no arrests have been made.

The university has canceled classes for Monday and is providing grief counseling for students, the Associated Press has reported.

The incident has left the community shaken, with condolences pouring in from across the region.
