A 62-year-old man, reportedly angered by his divorce settlement, drove his car into a crowd at a sports complex in Zhuhai, China, killing 35 and injuring 43 on Monday night.

The man, found with self-inflicted wounds, was detained by police.

Videos of the incident circulated online despite censorship, showing people injured on the track.

Authorities quickly removed news about the attack, likely due to the city’s concurrent hosting of a major aviation exhibition, the Associated Press has reported.

President Xi Jinping called for strict punishment for the attacker and urged local governments to strengthen conflict prevention efforts.
