Kraft Heinz announced it will remove Lunchables from the National School Lunch Program due to lower-than-expected demand.
This decision follows concerns raised by Consumer Reports, which found high levels of sodium, lead, and cadmium in the school versions of the snack.
Consumer Reports praised the move, calling for stricter standards in the program to ensure healthier options for students, CNN has reported.
The National School Lunch Program serves nearly 30 million children across the U.S. with low-cost or free balanced meals.
