3 hurt when small plane crashes near Southern California dragstrip hosting racing event

Three people were injured in a plane crash Sunday near a dragstrip in Pomona, California, where fans were gathered for a racing event.

The Piper PA-32 crashed around 11:40 a.m. while attempting to land at Brackett Field Airport, striking at least two parked vehicles.

No one on the ground was hurt.

The three injured passengers, including two in critical condition, were hospitalized, the Associated Press has reported.

The National Hot Rod Association event paused briefly for emergency response but resumed later.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
