Chinese President Xi arrives in Brazil for G20 summit talks with Lula

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday for the G20 summit, where he is set to hold talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, development strategies, and international and regional issues.

Xi, who has visited Brazil four times, emphasized the close ties between the two countries, which are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations.

China is Brazil’s largest export market, and trade between the two nations grew nearly 10% in 2024, Reuters has reported.

This is Xi’s second visit to Brazil in five years.
