Hiker’s body found in New Hampshire mountains after ‘significant fall’

The body of 44-year-old hiker Christopher Huyler was recovered over the weekend after he went missing in New Hampshire’s White Mountains.

Huyler, from Littleton, New Hampshire, was hiking in Franconia Notch State Park on Friday when he fell on icy terrain.

His wife reported him overdue later that evening.

A search-and-rescue mission found his body early Saturday on Kinsman Ridge, about 2,800 feet in elevation.

Huyler was well-equipped for the hike, and the cause of death appeared to be from a fall.

Winter conditions and snowy weather complicated the rescue, NBC News has reported.

An autopsy is pending.
