New Orleans police arrest man accused of killing paradegoers during multiple mass shootings

New Orleans police arrested Curtis Gray, 19, for the Nov. 17 fatal shootings of Rasean Carter, 21, and Malachi Jackson, 19, during a parade.

The violence occurred at the Almonaster Avenue Bridge during the Nine Times Social Aid & Pleasure Club’s annual second-line parade, a tradition rooted in the city’s Black culture.

Carter, an aspiring photographer, planned to document the event alongside Jackson.

The incident was one of several recent shootings in New Orleans, despite overall declining violence since mid-2023, the Associated Press has reported.

Two others were arrested Thursday for a separate double homicide on Nov. 30.
