Republican House Majority in Peril

The Republican majority in the House of Representatives is facing uncertainty as several GOP members are being considered for roles in Donald Trump’s Cabinet.

Representative Victoria Spartz of Indiana announced she would step back from committees and the Republican caucus to focus on the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.

Her decision follows a failed bid for a spot on the House Ways and Means Committee, Newsweek has reported.

Other Republicans, such as Matt Gaetz, Mike Waltz, Elise Stefanik, and Lori Chavez-DeRemer, are also being tapped for Cabinet positions, potentially leading to special elections to fill their seats, starting with Gaetz’s seat in Florida on January 28.
