Killer who escaped from Mississippi prison is recaptured after manhunt, authorities say

A convicted killer, Drew Johnson, was recaptured in Mississippi on Wednesday, a day after escaping from the South Mississippi Correctional Institution.

Authorities had warned the public that Johnson, 33, was “very dangerous” and “desperate.”

Johnson, serving a life sentence for homicide, had previously pleaded guilty to multiple crimes in Tennessee, including a 2016 stabbing death, CBS News has reported.

He was captured near the prison where he escaped, and the public had been urged to stay vigilant.
