15 hurt in Florida when train hits fire truck that drove onto tracks after another train passed

In Delray Beach, Florida, a fire truck collided with a high-speed Brightline train after driving around lowered crossing gates following a freight train’s passage.

The crash injured three firefighters and 12 train passengers, all in stable condition.

The impact severely damaged both the train and fire truck, scattering debris across the area.

Authorities, including the Federal Railroad Administration, are investigating the incident, the Associated Press has reported.

Brightline, which has the nation’s highest train-related fatality rate since 2017, emphasizes the importance of not bypassing closed crossing gates.
