A drug trafficking investigation in Bogalusa, Louisiana, led to the arrest of Mayor Tyrin Truong and six others.
The investigation, launched in April 2024, uncovered an operation distributing opioids, marijuana, THC products, and MDMA, using social media for sales and payments.
Profits funded firearms purchases, some linked to violent crimes.
Truong, the city’s youngest mayor, faces charges related to drug offenses, unauthorized use of a moveable, and soliciting prostitution.
The other suspects face similar charges, with some also charged with conspiracy and drug distribution, CBS News has reported.
All seven individuals have been booked into the Washington Parish Jail, and further investigations are ongoing.
