Girl fatally shot by student in Tennessee high school cafeteria

A 16-year-old girl, Josselin Escalante, was fatally shot by a 17-year-old student, Solomon Henderson, who then took his own life at Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee.

A third student sustained a minor arm injury and was treated and released.

The shooting, which occurred in the school cafeteria following an argument, is under investigation.

It marks the first US school shooting of the year, the BBC has reported.

Tearful parents were reunited with students at an off-campus site, and the White House offered condolences to those affected.
