A drone strike on the Saudi Teaching Maternal Hospital in El Fasher, Sudan, killed at least 70 people, mostly women and children, according to officials and the WHO.
The attack targeted the last functioning hospital in North Darfur’s capital, which was packed with patients.
This marks another escalation in Sudan’s 20-month civil war between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which has killed over 20,000 and displaced 11 million.
Sudan’s foreign ministry and Darfur’s governor blamed the RSF, though the group has not commented, CNN has reported.
WHO urged warring factions to stop targeting health facilities and prioritize peace.
