Police catch caravan laden with explosives outside synagogue in Australia

Australian police foiled a planned antisemitic attack after discovering a caravan with explosives in Dural, northwest of Sydney, on Jan. 19.

Authorities called it a terrorist plot, with arrests made but details undisclosed. Over 100 officers are investigating under a joint counter-terrorism operation.

The incident comes amid a rise in antisemitic attacks in Australia since the Israel-Gaza war began in late 2023, NBC News has reported.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s government has increased security measures but faces criticism over the surge in incidents.
