The US has sent its first group of migrants to Guantanamo Bay since President Trump announced plans to expand migrant detention there.
Ten detainees, linked to the Tren de Aragua gang, were flown from Texas to the US Navy base in Cuba.
Trump had ordered the expansion of an existing migrant detention facility to hold up to 30,000 people as part of his crackdown on undocumented migrants.
The facility will be managed by ICE, and Trump emphasized that it would hold “the worst of the worst,” the BBC has reported.
The move has been criticized by Cuba and human rights groups.
