Elon Musk defended his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Tuesday, alongside President Trump, during a speech at the Oval Office.

Musk emphasized the need for government reform, advocating for “commonsense controls” and defending his efforts to dismantle federal agencies and cut down on wasteful spending.

He criticized inefficiencies like Social Security payments to the deceased and high salaries of bureaucrats, although without providing evidence.

Musk also addressed concerns about conflicts of interest, asserting that transparency builds trust, The Hill has reported.

Trump supported Musk’s work, highlighting DOGE’s findings of fraud and waste but also noted legal challenges, including a federal judge’s recent ruling blocking DOGE from accessing Treasury Department payment systems.

Musk remains focused on reforming the Treasury and other agencies.
