Prosecutors file motion to drop corruption charges against NYC Mayor Eric Adams

Federal prosecutors in New York have moved to drop corruption charges against NYC Mayor Eric Adams, citing concerns over election interference and governance.

The decision, ordered by Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, sparked internal DOJ turmoil, with multiple resignations, including Manhattan’s acting U.S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon.

Prosecutors opposed the dismissal, alleging political influence and a quid pro quo involving Adams’ cooperation with the Trump administration.

Bove denied the claims, arguing national security concerns outweighed prosecution, CBS News has reported.

The case’s transfer to DOJ headquarters led to further resignations, while former U.S. attorneys condemned the move, praising Sassoon’s integrity.
